My Inheritance

Prov 19:14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Oh, my how times have changed.  When this verse was written, most people based their success on what was passed on to them from their parents.  When I look around me, most of my friends are living in the houses and wealth accumulated from their actions.  But as you dig deeper, you realize that most of those actions are usually based on the foundation established by your parents while you were growing up.  My desire to learn and continuously improve my education is based on my parents’ regard for schooling and training.  My sense of value of wealth is based on my father’s meticulous tracking of revenue and expense.   My life in the church is based on my parents’ participation in service and worship. I can’t figure out where the humor and irreverence come from.  But my wife…  She was definitely a gift from God.  I didn’t really know this early in our relationship, but as I look back at my life, I see her influence in my path.  Especially when I needed a less than gentle reminder of how I was straying from that path.
