Power of the Throne

Prov 16:12 Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.

The news is full of our leaders (in various capacities) that wrestle with the power associated with the throne.  I try not to get political, it’s a rabbit hole that makes me feel dirty.  But one of the courts recently denied President Trump immunity.  He was looking for total immunity based on his position of power.  While a lot of us express condemnation one way or another on this stance, I feel that we sometimes ask for the same thing about ourselves.  I have seen several Ministers fall because they believed that their position protected them from sinful natures.  From money to illicit relationships, they fall not because of their actions, but because of their arrogance.  There were recent charges against New York City cops that acted in ways that would certainly bring us up on charges.  But their defense was based primarily on their position of authority, not on the actions that they took.  As a parent haven’t most of you stated, “do what I say, not what I do”?  It’s time we step back as individuals and make sure that we walk a path that is entirely based on our relationship with Christ rather than our position of power.
