Baltimore Loss

I watched the video, with a bit of shock and sadness, of the cargo ship crashing into the Key Bridge and bringing the span into the cold waters of the bay.  And then realized that the headlines were “we lost a bridge”.  To give the media credit, in the early morning all we knew was that the bridge went down.  But later we realized that 8 (or 9) people went into the water as well. That was when the headlines should have changed to “we lost 6 people”.  The two key impact positions are 1) the economy is going to take a hit.  Primarily due to the disruption in the supply chain with the shipping channel closed until the bridge is removed. Second, due to the sheer cost of a new bridge.  2) the families of the six construction workers are going to take a hit.  First emotionally as they wrestle with the loss of a parent, a spouse, a loved one. Second, financially as they wrestle with a sudden change in revenue.

As a community we should be prioritizing their loss over the nations loss.  I suggest that we as individuals or groups organize whatever method of support that is within your capability. From cash to prayer, every little bit helps.

As individuals we should be prioritizing a future based on our decision to accept Christ.  Those that are wrestling with an acceptance decision and opting to “I’ll get around to it” should take a serious look at the six individuals that lost their lives with no chance of recovery and very little warning.  I am bad about allowing procrastination to arrange my schedule.  I strongly urge those on the fence to weigh the consequences and make the decision today.  The Kingdom is waiting.
