The Eclipse
Well, the eclipse is over. We went on the hunt for totality. I prepared by getting the proper equipment, practicing with the camera, and…
100% cloud coverage.
It wasn’t a total wash, since we were in the zone of totality, at the peak of the event it was totally dark, and I mean total. The highlight for me was in seeing the event through the eyes of two of my granddaughters. They were enthralled and a little freaked out by the plunge into darkness.
There were three not so hidden messages during this quick 3-day adventure.
First, we need to minimize our disappointment when we prepare for something and end up with results that don’t meet our expectations. We need to take a step back and see what we’re supposed to experience, sometimes through someone else’s eyes. If with live with the disappointment we may miss the real message and a chance for pleasure.
Second, we need to enjoy the moment, all moments, regardless of the situation. Sometimes you can’t see the good in all the bad that surrounds us, but that shouldn’t keep us from searching.
Third, we need to continue to prepare regardless of our plan. Because, simply, sometimes our plan is not His plan. The money and effort I put into the eclipse sighting won’t go to waste. I will have opportunities to use and share the equipment and the experiences I’ve gained. When you experience disappointment, keep going. The next path is just around the corner.
